US 3369 We believe WILLOWIND represents one of the finest if not the finest Swan 40 in existence. Customized at Nautor’s original building, the main salon/galley/nav. bulkhead is cut away to provide an open area unlike most sister ships. The forward cabin presents a double berth using the original joiner work done by Hinckley. Teak cabinetry has been added below with a dressing seat off to starboard. She was launched April 4, 1971 in Finland and bought by the present owner April 4, 1979. She has cruised extensively the east coast of the United States and the Bahamas. She has been selectively raced successfully including Swan Regattas. Along with her racing trophies, Willowind won the covenant Prix De Elegance trophy in ’83 and has been runner up twice in succeeding Swan Regatta. WILLOWIND IS RECOMMENDED TO THE CONNOISOUR OF VINTAGE OR HISTORICAL SWANS. She has been maintained by the present owner of 28 years to Nautor’s standards. All upgrades and modifications were done under the approval of Lars Stromm who recently retired from Nautor and was in charge of their R & D. For the first twenty years she summered in Newport R. I., USA and was either stored inside during the winter months or under an aluminum frame with a cover. Willowind carries an IOR, IMS, IRC, and PHRF (NB, SEF) certificates. Engine: Perkins 4-108, 4 cyl. Diesel; Fresh water cooled with Bowman Heat exchanger. Bowman Heat Exchanger replaced in ’04. Internal parts (stacks) ultrasonically cleaned in’2004. A spare set of stacks are available. Atomizer tips replaced, new lift pump and fuel pump serviced and recalibrated in ’05. Front and rear main seals scheduled for replacement in November (’06). New PSS dripless shaft seal system installed on shaft replacing stern gland in ’04. Top half of engine was serviced in ’94; newly designed stainless steel muffler system designed by Derecktor/Gunnel ship yard and installed in ’96. Borg Warner velvet drive transmission served in ’96. The engine has approximately 1000 hours of use. New fuel gauge installed in ’04; new Vetus in line sea water filter installed ’04; new racor fuel filter installed in ’04. New oil pressure hoses installed ’06; heat expansion tank installed ’05. All fuel and oil filters changed every 50 hours; fan belt changes every 100 hours. Fuel tank “polished” every season. Polishing system included. New VDO oil pressure gauge and sender unit installed ’05. All engine, muffler and exhaust hoses and stainless steel clamps changed in ’04. New scupper hoses changed in ’04. All hose clamps in entire boat sprayed and checked bi-monthly along with motor mounts. Asbestos insulation replaced in engine box with SoundDown. Teak door installed in aft engine compartment. Secondary VDO tachometer and hour meter replaced in Port Quarter bulkhead in 2000. A spare is available. New transmission oil cooler replaced in ’03. New fresh water pump replaced in ’03. New glow plug installed in ’02. Egnine harness rewired and all non functional Lucas equipment originally installed removed. Electricity: Electrical survey of yacht was done in ’04 and is available. Two battery banks exist: Bank one consist of three AGM (105 AH) batteries servicing the house (installed in 03). A battery shelf was built under the main salon table in ’03 for the engine. Both systems were rewired to operate individually or in conjunction through a custom switching system. Shore power 110V is available and charging is through a ProSine 2.0 (Xanthrex) inverter/charger presently being reinstalled. A Link 20 monitor system was installed concurrently. Hot water runs off the engine or shore power. Additional DC electrical panels installed at nav. station and in port quarter berth in ’85. AC electrical panel in stalled in starboard quarter berth in ’85 and replaced in ’05 in an inlaid teak cabinet. The latter has totally been rewired. A Balmar 95 amp high speed alternator was installed in ’90. A back up alternator exists. A new Balmar External Regulator (MC – 612) installed in ’03; a back up exists. All electrical connections sprayed bimonthly. Hella fans exist in all berths and cabins. New axial fan for head being installed in port dorade. New two 50 ft. telephone and TV cable and new 75’ 30 AMP 110 shore power cord ’06. New Sony flat screen (19”) TV for entertainment center. New Sea Watch TV antenna. Installed new Anchor Marine A/C unit with duct work throughout installed in ’06. New March below water line pump (110V) for A/C and refrigeration and relay for A/C and refrigeration systems installed concurrently. New Guest Galvanic Isolator installed ’04. Replaced all 110V outlets including GFI outlet in galley. Night lights installed in galley, nav. station and forepeak in ’90. Closet lights installed in ’90. All mast electrical wires replaced in 2001 along with buss bar under head sink. New Aqua Marine Steaming, Anchor and Flood lights installed 2001. New Windex light installed ’01. New waterproof junction box installed under mast in ’01. New 2002 Alpine Amplifier, CD/AM/FM Receiver and Boston Acoustic Speakers in cabin. New Pioneer waterproof cockpit speakers ’03. Dyna isolation grounding plate located on the bottom port side midship. All original cabin lights (small) switched out for the larger version, trimmed out with teak rims and extra lights added throughout including night lights. Head & Plumbing: New Sea Era (Raritan) electric toilet with household bowel installed in ’02. All new intake and exit hoses installed. Custom stainless steel base plate incorporated into installation. New axial fan and switch installed ’06. Sink drains via sump pump over side. Independent shower installed in ’85. Door fittings re-chromed and new barrel hinges installed ’05. New vented loop in discharge line installed behind cabinetry. Towel holder re-chromed ’05. New sump pump installed in ’05. Sump pump receives discharge from A/C unit and head sink. New ½ inch bronze check valve installed for sump pump ’03. New ¾” bronze check valve installed for automatic bilge pump ’03. New Rule 2000 bilge pump installed ’03 along with new custom stainless steel base. Hot & cold shower in cockpit installed ‘85. New Henderson hand bilge pump installed in 2000. Galley: CNG stove and oven with butcher block cover board. CNG regulators (2) rebuilt in ’04. Hose attachment added to sink in 2000. Refrigeration (110V) by custom unit. A back up until is available. New raw water condensing unit added in ’02. Refrigerant tank, gauges and freon tank available. All refrigeration wiring replaced in ’04. Holding plate flushed and fluid replaced to accommodate -30 degrees F. Two new Whaler-Gusher foot pumps installed in galley with stainless steel finishing plate. New Jabsco fresh water pump installed ’02. Sails & Rigging (standing and running): Cruising full batten main built in ’94 by Jasper & Bailey of Newport. Lightly used and stored inside when not in use.
