Hi Stefan, Good to meet you here. Might be really nice to meet each other at Helgoland or Bruensbuetel next summer. And I would love to see a Swan 411 in real life! Maybe we can expand the idea to a northern-european classic swan event. Just and idea! About the drive I must admit your installation looks really nice and clean. I was still hesistating between the Jefa and the B&G/Navico/solution. All the same product following my online investigation. But fortunately I could a complete Simrad/B&G system in a good shape for a decent price. I picked up the system in Hamburg yesterday (750km drive form my hometown in the Netherlands). So I will try to get that system working in my not so spacy Swan 40. Ik keep you all informed here. I see all my projects as nice experiments where I can learn from! Kind regards, Jolling |

Hello jolling, Verry good, no more thinking which is the best system. Hope it will not be to difficult for you to install your ram. I can not imagine how your room for the drive is sorted. My one just apeared in kiel when i was looking for one of them. And i was asking jefa about this particular one and they could tell me on which day they send it to HANSE in rostock / germany for first installation. Seasons are short in germany so it was not much in use - perfect deal!
Yes, i would love to meet you and other swan lovers arround the north sea or even the baltic sea. I like to see how you are fixed things, because every body has his own skills and thoughts - i like to optimize. Let's plan somethink like a meeting!
Matheo: thanks for your effort and reply, yes of course thats better to turn it 180° arround. On hose clamps i allways do, if two are installed. Did that ones in the beginning of my refit and never touched again. Looking forward to the next summer.

Dear Matteo and Stefan The original steering cable attachment at the quadrant did not use wire clamps but a special combined thimble and rope grip with better load capacity.
Kind regards
Lars

Gents, What a wonderful idea - we'd certainly up for a S&S Swan get-together/meeting in Northern Europe, too - might be worth a separate post? Kairos is also based in Glueckstadt (at least over the Winter) so Heligoland in early or late season would be perfect for us (also much quieter then :-) ) but we'll obviously go with the flow. Hi All, If COVID allows we will be coming through the Kiel Channel from Denmark around mid July. This will be the start of our trip to the Pacific. Game to meet ... before setting off. Mike from Storm Svale |

Finally (sorry it took a while) I have some pictures from Swan 40 (1972) with a high molded fuel tank. The autopilot work unit is B&G T2. In the pictures you can see the structure for the linear motor (before decorative housing) and the welding proto for the rudder. Unfortunately I don't know how that part is called. Nice work done by Veneveistämö Pettersson / Suomenlinna, Finland. |
