Swan 43 hull number identification
This is a question for the professor.

On Swan 43 Hiro Maru I have been coming across two hull number identification behind seat bottoms and panels. I have always thought my hull was #46 but I also keep coming across #39 as well.
I know there is a Swan 43 #39 so I am confused as to what my hull number really is.
It almost seems as though my boat #46 was built along side hull #39 and the various interior components were interchanged during construction.

Regards,

Hiro

As I happened to write before, I have the same curious fact in my 411/004. Every once in a while I discover a wood panel which has got on its back, well hidden, a close but different hull number.
I think this makes the birth of our unique boats more interesting!

Hiro,

I have REBECCA , hull #39 built in 1970. I have this number printed on the backs of many components.

John

Dear Hiro
Your hull number is indeed #46, and your observations are correct.
The yachts were built under tight time constraints, and it is known that occasionally prefabricated components were taken from other boat's batches to keep the production flowing. For this reason there may be parts showing another hull number.
I guess the workmen did not realize that the result of their efforts would be inspected that closely more than 40 years later.
Kind regards
Lars

Thank you for the clarification Professor.

I wonder if there is anyone out there who may have any components for hull #46?

Kind regards,

Hiro

Hi John:

Well I have some panels that were originally destined for your hull on my boat.

I wonder if the yard used components from another hull number to make up for the ones that were placed into my hull? Maybe you have some of mine from hull #46?

Kind regards,

Hiro

Sparkman and Stephens claimed that my 1969 43 Freya ex. Harpoon was hull 09 but my cabinetry backs consistently are marked 08! Which number is true?
