Make, I owned a 37 from 1986 till 1990. Not a proper boat test, but my opinions are:
1. Built very strongly - overbuilt in fact
2. Designed by S&S to win the One Ton cup. Rather small metre boat rudder was great upwind but rather hard work reaching.
3. Some boats with tiller, some with wheel. Mine was tiller
4. Koto wood inside attracts moisture marking which is hard to deal with
5. Sails very well to its rating - especially now with age
6. Very stiff and great upwind in a blow
7. Boats came with exotic lenticular rod rigging in line with the mast allowing a lot of mast rake movement for this kind of rig
8. Very pretty on the water with a lot of tumblehome
9. In Swan regattas I found it stuck in light airs and could be at the front on handicap when its rough

Hope this helps. I would certainly recommend this boat and would buy one again.
I bought mine for £23k and it was later sold for £60k after quite a bit of renovation work.

Dear sir,

I am the proud owner of a lady built at Nauto's in 1970, build nr 018. Her name is "Ferm II".

I bought her in 2006, after having suffered on the seas for years with banana boats lika first.7 series and so on....

I can on the strongest recommend the model, either as a cruiser, or as a regatta boat. FOr spinnaker use I recommend to extend the wet surface of the rudder.

Tarantella II, owned by 2nd generation in Finland, is the mostwinning Swan ever, and if you are lucky, some nice soul might send you a copy of the book "Tarantella", the story about the first swan ever, Tarantella I, a 36, and the succeeding 37, the mostwinning swan, posseesed by the same family in Finland.

If you are interested in a PDF file with the origianal marketing material for the boat from 1970, pls send me an email on:
ck@onecom.no

Good luck with your investigations!

Captain Carsten

Dear Professor Lars,

I got my hands on an original March, 2004, issue of Yachting World, but it does not contain anything about the Swan 37.  Could it be a different issue of Yachting World?  Thanks.
