B&G Wind Instuments

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for A B&G hengist windvane.

The current one just crumbled apart  this winter. The system is from 1972 and still works well. I contacted B&G and i would have to spend ridiculous amount to convert the new vane to work with the old. Any tips are welcome.

Thank You guys! I tried the repair facility in Florida and a replacement masthead unit is $ 1200.00. Little too pricy for me. According to them the C style unit is no longer available and I need to change to a different model.

I will try Tingley and see, and in a worst case I may remanufacture this little aluminum piece.

What part exactly of the masthead unit do you need replacing? The wind vane (the hub, 3 arms and 3 cups) is actually made of plastic and the sensors are encased in small aluminum cylinders. Occasionally the speed sensor needs the replacing of a small ball bearing which is easily available. If the wind vane is broken it is a problem because it is hard to find; I would try to make a mold and rebuild it with some resin.

Do you have a model number? I replaced all the old B&G instruments this winter as the log and close hauled indicator had died and the the depth sounder is a bit inaccurate for the IJsselmeer. The wind vane was still OK, though. Mine is a 1977 model. If it is the right model, I will be happy to trade the masthead unit for a bottle of Scotch plus postage.

Hi Make,

I attach a photograph of the masthead unit. If it is the one you are looking for, email me at frank.hoogendijk@hotmail.com.
