Swan 38 stanchion

The starboard midship stanchion of my Swan 38/029 has to be replaced. Does anyone have any advice or comment on how I can find an identical spare?

Thanks,

Dear Rene

The Swan 38 stanchions are tapered above the lower wire, and have a black plastic knob at the top. They were supplied by Lewmar, but have not been available for many years.

Suggest you try to make the best of the situation and have it repaired.

Kind regards

Lars

Hi,
some years ago I buy it in Villefranche sur mer at Nautor.
Without the plastic, all steel.
The big problem was to remove the old one that was galvanic solded with the alluminium base. We had to cut the stancion, cut the new one to and join a smaller tube to the new one to enter in the old.
Good luck.

Lars:

Two stanchions on my Swan 47 are damaged. One has a sizeable crack, the other buckled. What do you sugegst about replacement? I have attached a photo so that you may guess at who originally made the stanchion. My boat was built in 1979. We are currently located in the US Virgin Islands.

Best regards,

Milo
