gelcoat colour swan 38

Dear Members,

In a recent thread I read that the gelcoat color of the hull is Jotun 2000.

Because the hull is nearly 30 years old it seems to be slightly more yellow especially on the stern, because of (I assume) the exhaust of the engine. Therefore the Jotun 2000 seems too white when tried on some small damaged parts.

I have tried all sort of different cleaning, but still not to my satisfaction. Does anyone of you have any suggestions ?

Furthermore I am wondering if the gelcoat of the cockpit is the same color ?

Any answers on this matter are very welcome !

If possible I would like to keep the gelcoat instead of spraying awlgrip.

Dear Jan,

we face a similar occurence. We do have yellow patterns within the white gelcoat in the cockpit. Cleaning, polishing etc. doesn't help. At last we accepted it as a matter of age. I can mail some photos if you like.

I polished my Swan 38/86 with a more abrasive polishing paste (www.rotweiss.com) and as the secong course with a standard polishing paste of the mentioned company. After this procedure the gelcoat is like a mirror with no micro craters.

As the last course we finished the procedure with two layers of Nanocoat (www.nanocoat.de).

The result was unbelievable. Our boat has a different color. All yellow patches disappeared. The boat looks like new.

I still remain with the question of the gelcoat color code for the cockpit ?

Does anyone know the jotun color code of the cockpit ??
