Swan 43 Tough Boat
Dear S&S Swan 43 Owners and Fans

just a few lines to let you know about a letter our Member Michael sent to Practical Sailor (November 2008 issue) on the fantastic characteristic of his beloved Sparkman & Stephens designed Swan 43.

I ran my boat into a rock a few years back. On my chart the rocks were shown, but 3 feet below low water and I had been in this harbor many times. We were doing about five knots when we hit hard. I found out later that the more recent charts showed the rock exposed at low water. My steel docking shoe was bent and the lead ballast was dented. I cut the bent portion away using a cutting blade and filled the dent using epoxy. There was no other damage.
