bearings of steering wheel of 38

I have to much play on the bearings of the steering wheel.

Does anybode knows how to I dismantle the bearings ? Is there a drawing of this part of the boat ? And what size and type of bearings are needed to replace ? Does anyone know if Nautor can supply them ?

Best regards,

Jan Kooistra

Dear Jan

First remove the compass base including compass, it is held by 4 small set screws about 35 mm below the lower edge of the compass binnacle. This gives access to the brake and sprockets inside the pedestal head.

Then remove the round cover on the front end, and take out the wheel shaft. Pls note that it may be necessary to open the set screws which hold the brake drum and sprockets to the shaft. There is a hole on top of the brake shoe, and the drum screw can be turned so it comes right below the hole.

There is one bearing bushing of Delrin each end, and a bearing washer on the front end.

It is suggested that you ask Nautor Spare Parts for a quotation for a new set of bearings.

Kind regards

Lars
