Proving Taxes & Duties Paid into the US

When I bought Pleaides (Swan 41/018) in 2005 in Canada, she was duty paid into Canada. She had been purchased by the previous owner in San Francisco. Prior to that she was in Annapolis, MD. So i know she was US flagged at some point.

Here's my question: How can I prove that the boat was tax and duty paid into the United States? I called the broker in San Francisco and they couldn't help.

Dear John, Not sure it will be enough, but you can get a copy of the owners, sales of the boat in the USA from the USCG website. It costs a few dollars, but it could be worth it. Please post the end result if you can, as it could be helpful one day. Thanks. Jayne Aorangi 47/047

Hi John:

Keith Yeoman in Newport, RI, is with Swan. He is an excellent resource and I would zap him an email....

keith.yeoman@usaeast.nautorswan.com

He may be able to shed some light on this matter.

Cheers,

Milo

Jane & Milo;

Thank you both for those ideas. I will try them and report results.
