Section of Swan 43 Mast Needed

Hi All,

The base of the mast on my Swan 43 Firebrand II/Circe (43/041) is split and badly corroded.  It is going to need to have the bottom 100 mm or more cut off.  We are currently looking at building up the mast step to make up the lost length, but this will result in the repair protruding up through the floor. 

A simpler and neater solution would be to cut off a bit more of the base, add another piece of section to the shortened mast and join it with an internal sleeve.  To do this we will need a relativey short piece of original mast section.  Is there anyone out there who has replaced their mast and may have 0.5m or 0.6m of mast section in good condition that we could use?

Hi Andrew,
try some local riggers. Some usually keep bits of mast section for this particular reason as its not an uncommon problem with older boats.
