Swan 44 head footpump
I have a footpump in the head on my Swan 44, been there as long as I've owned the boat with the hoses cut off and no clue as to where they went. There's no seawater tap in the head so I'm thinking it was to pump out the sink/ shower sump. Any body know if this is correct?
Thanks,
Tony

Assume you have fresh water taps in the head. The foot pump was a back-up for the fresh water pressure pump. Do you have foot pumps in the galley?
Switching off the pressure pump during long trips is a simple way of reducing water consumption.
Sump tank pumps are normally operated with a handle, and have bigger capacity.
Kind regards

Thanks Lars. I do have pressure water, and there is a handle type pump above and behind the head that services the sump as well as the bilge via a diverter valve.
You've also solved the mystery of why there were 2 foot pumps in the galley, with one servicing the seawater tap. I'll go ahead and reconstruct them as original, that sounds good.
Best regards,
Tony
