411 keel modification
Part of this subject was treated in other threads namely that from hull #009, the keel of the 411 was made deeper and heavier because some owners suggested Nautor that the boat displayed a somehow too "soft" behaviour. The change in keel design was carried out by S&S and I know that several of the previous hulls were retrofitted.
My question regards my boat, hull #004, which was never retrofitted. I am often noticing that even with my best effort I am not able to go upwind close hauled as other boats and I wonder if the fault should be ascribed to my un-ability, to rig tuning, to the sails or to the shorter keel.

Are there other owners of 411 without keel modification?
In case affirmative: which is your experience?

The heavier and deeper keel increases performance on the wind in two ways - the increased stability provides more sail carrying power, and the increased keel aspect ratio reduces leeway.
Off the wind, particularly in light weather, you should have an advantage due to less displacement and reduced wetted surface.
Best regards
