S&S Swan Maintenance - Rudder shaft leak on 38

Rudder shaft leak on 38 Dear all, Swante and I are on a longer trip than usually, and I am currently berthed in Cascais, Portugal. The rudder shaft has developed a leak which must be repaired before we continue. There seems to be an elastic band of sorts in the shaft, and this needs to be changed. The people I talk to here have not seen this solution before, and I would therefore greatly appreciate advice on how to procede With the repair. Kind rgds, Terje
