Wedges needed to stabilize the mast of a Swan 48 S&S?
Dear sailors,

we got some new parts of the rigg and reconditioned the old mast.

After we brought in the mast again, we have being feeling that the mast is moving too much within the mast hole.

How is the original setup of "mast in the mast hole". Are there any wedges to fix the mast or does it should move within the hole by some centimeter each direction?

The deck/ edge of the hole is not touched by the mast but the rubber wristband is damaged quite often.

I appreciate your response!

Fair winds,

Ulli

Dear Ulli
You can find the mast wedging instructions in the Maintenance Section under Manuals.
Kind regards
Lars

Ulli, wedges are always a problem to fit and keep in place. Use a product called Spar tight. It is a liquid rubber which forms a perminant ring around the mast. It makes it easy to remove and re fit the mast.

We used 1.5 litres Spartite for our Swan 44 RepoMan.
