Swan 38 coachroof dorade vents

Hi all,

I'm just reinstating the coachroof vents that the previous owner removed and blanked off. Part of the inlet under the box has been cut off (see pics). What I'd like to know is what this looked like before.

Was it just a bit taller, if so how tall as I can sleeve it to extend it? I would imagine an inch or so below the underside of the box would be ideal...

Or was there some other important detail to help stop water getting in?

These will obviously have the dorade boxes over them so appearance is not an issue just the functionality.

Also how were these closed off originally?

Thanks

Pete

The inlet should be angled at the top, for dimensions pls see attached S&S Type Plan. (Probably too small as shown in the Forum, Matteo, it is suggested this plan is published in the Maintenance section).

The inner tube is an extension of the flange visible in the interior.

The vents can be closed temporarily by pushing a rag into the tube from below, or permanently by replacing the cowls with round cover plates, originally supplied with the yacht. The cover plates are held by the screw ring after removal of the cowl.
Kind regards
Lars

Amazing thanks Lars!

Will fashion a sleeve angled at the top as per the drawing.
