New Engine on a 431 Hello again crew, I'm just about to buy a new engine for Alimagna Swan 431... They offer me a Janmar but I'm not sure if it fits. Has anybody installed a Yanmar on a 431 or in a similar Swan? Juan Allamand. |

Juan; Not sure if you've already bought the Yanmar or not, so, for what it's worth... I replaced the Perkins 4.108 with a Volvo-Penta D2-55 without any problems in my 1974 Swan 41/018. In doing so I replaced the controls, instrument panel, rebuilt the Borg-Warner transmission and changed the side exhaust to a much quieter wet exhaust out the stern. I'm very happy with the choice. Hi John. Our 41/022 still has a Perkins 4108 engine which is ok with the original dry exhaust, slightly modified with anodes to try and prevent corrosion. But problems might arise. So I would be interested to know where, in your transformation, you have been installing the waterlock, and where is the wet exhaust pipe passing through the rear cabin, as there is no space in the original arrangement. Did you have to build a box in the rear cabin, is the pipe going under the battery bank, etc... Thanks for any info. Regards. Philippe. |
