Internal lights

I do not know if anyone is still interested in keeping all the original items of our boats but this is my little contribution.

The several original ceiling lights (Aqua Signal) need small incandescent bulbs of the kind C5W or C10W which consume quite a bit of power and produce little lights; transforming them to LED lights is a very good idea and this is a suggestion on how to do it with less than 10€ and an half hour of work.

The ring of LED is easily found on the net and will consume only 2.65W at 12V producing a lot of light; this has 33 SMD LED's with warm light and the ring has 100mm diameter.  It will fit perfectly inside the AS old light, just fixed with 4 small plastic pillars.

If you need more info or pictures, you are welcome to contact me.

Here there are other pictures from which you can better study the setup.

The picture from the back shows how the whole lot is rigged: by 2.5MA countersunk head screws; 6 new countersink holes where easily drilled wherever needed.

Unexpectedly the hardest part was finding the two faston connectors matching the switch (see my previous message); they must be small and angled otherwise they will interfere with other parts.  This is also the reason for placing the LED ring not exactly centered as you may notice in the pictures.

Just one important thing to remember: most LED assemblies are polarity conscious. Power to the lamp is given through the two empty slots of the mammut-type terminal block; -ve to the left and +ve to the right in the first picture.
