DRAWINGS
Dear all,

I would like to know if anyone knows where to find a copy of the original drawings of my 48' because I have to produce the information in respect of the tonnage & measurement certificate.

This would help me not to haul the boat and ask for a surveyor to measure her.

Dear Matteo et al, regarding drawings - do you know where I could obtain drawings of the teak deck layout for a Swan 38?  I am replacing the deck on my 38 this Winter but do not want the boatyard in Cowes, England to have artistic licence on what they think the deck on a Swan 38 should look like!  The yard has good craftsmen but the deck design of the first Swan 38 they did was not in keeping with the theme of the original design.   I need a teak deck template for the yard   to keep to – any ideas?  Best regards, Patrick (Splash 38/108)

Dear Patrick,
as far as I know (I askedNautor the same question when I had my teack deck re-done, last year) there are no original drawings.
You should find a boat with the original one (there are a lot of them still around) and take some picture, if you want the teack to be as it was in origin.
Good luck for your deck and Fair Wind!

p.s. I could send you some pics of my own teack deck, but I did a completely new graphic, so, I don't think you may be interested

Dear Matteo

Thank you for your reply and advice.  I still have the original deck so will take photos as suggested.

If you have photos of Only You's new deck i will greatly appreciate seeing them as I think you did a fantastic job on her.

Kind regards

Patrick

Dear Matteo,

Your deck looks really fantastic and it is still very much in keeping with the spirit of the original Nautor layout.  Thank you very much indeed for the photos - I am not sure we can match the craftsmanship on Only You but we will try! Kind regards, Patrick (38/108 Splash)

Hi Patrick,

We changed our teakdeck a couple of yours ago on our Swan 38/059 Jacaranda. The work was done by Walsted's boatyard in Denmark - superp I will tell you. We have changed the deck design a bit - which we like. You can see details (pictures) under maintenance.

Good luck

Hi Jorgen

I think the craftsmanship on Only You & Jacaranda is really superb and will be very difficult to match.   I notice you have retained the original Giot hatches – were they refurbished by Walsted’s or did you manage to get new Giot hatches?

Kind regards,

Patrick

Dear Jorgen

concerning Only You the only hatch I changed was the forward one, the other one is the original from 1976. I found the same size (62,62) from Goiot, so decided not to get a Lewmar or different Company. Anyway, in my opinion the Goiot is better than the Lewmar, but this is a personal thought!

Hi Patrick,

Yes, we retained the original Giot hatches. Walsted's renovated the forward one, and both hatches are now working perfeckly.

Best regards

Hi Jorgen,  I am replacing the old teak decks For Splash (108/78) at a Yard in Cowes (Lallows).  They are unable to renovate the Giot hatches and the pedestal.  Did you manage to get new Giot hatches for Jacaranda from Giot?

I am not sure what to do about the pedestal as it is badly corroded - do you know if the part is still available or how best to retsore it?

Many thanks

Patrick
