1973 S&S Swan 44 Cutlass Bearing
We are preparing to change our cutlass bearing. We know the shaft is 1 1/8" but we don't know the outside diameter and the length. Unfortunately, neither does our local Nautor Swan dealer...Can anyone help us with the OD and length?

Dear Norman

It is suggested that you measure the precise shaft diameter.

If 30.0 mm, 1.181", it is original, and then I can give the bearing dimensions, otherwise not.

Kind regards

Lars

I have just had this done on my 44 and can get the dimensions from her. The issue was the rubber had come free from the outer housing at one end and was acting like a rubber tube to grip and release the shaft. Horrid vibration worse in reverse.

I had a number of issues removing the old one as it was stuck in the P bracket. This meant removing the shaft, which only just came past the skeg when the rubber part of the bearing was removed. Which due to the delamination was easy. Otherwise it would have been move the engine.

I will not be back in the UK till the 24th April but can get the dimensions then if it will help.
