Question for Lars on Swan 40 rig.
Hi Lars.

As I mentioned before I am getting some new sails made. The loft is in the US and I am doing the measuring.

Anyway a question to Lars and other 40 owners.

Do you know the mast pre-bend and rake for the original rig?
Thanks for your help!!

Mike

The rake is shown on the sailplan. There is one for the 40 on this website, Matteo has collected the major drawings for all models, but the resolution is not sufficient for reading this detail.

The rake is normally in the order of one degree, which means about 10" for the 40. Should we ask Matteo for the actual number?

Referring to mast prebend this was an unknown issue at the time of build. Mast bending on offshore yachts appeared later, and it is suggested that some care is taken with yachts built before the new era, the mast fittings are not intended for extreme bending. About 4" is suggested

Best regards

Lars
