Swan 41 S&S
I am likely to buy a S&S Swan 41, and would like to know some thoughts, suggestions etc. from other owners.

Your answers will be very welcome, thanks a lot!

There have been several discussions on the Swan 41 on this forum and it might be worth looking through those. This is a very good and beautiful boat with few vices that is well made and very safe at sea. They have done well in racing and were originally fitted with two different rigs - one with a single set of spreaders and one with a double set.
While the interior is great at sea (six single berths parallel to the centreline), it does lack double beds and the saloon is quite far forwards. The only problem that we had was the dry exhaust on the engine which passes under a step by the galley to a silencer on the port side and an outlet there. This was prone to failure and many people have reworked the system afterwards.
Maybe the best boat of its size on the planet. You will not be disappointed.

The 41 is a wonderful boat.  We have the tall rig version.  It has the best characteristics of an S&S Swan.  Stiff, swift, handsome, plows upwind.  Highly recommended.  I would be careful about buying one that needs new teek decks, as that is a major investment.

We have been in ours for 8 years, and long distance world cruising for 1.5 years. It is all of the things the other posts have said. The forward bunks can be converted to a v-berth, but the unusual entry hatch is always going to be that way. You either love it or don't - we love it. Both the entry and the boat.
