Cockpit table
Dear members,

I need some advice about a cockpit table for our 431.

Are there any original drawings from Nautor available or how have you
solved this issue.
I would like to have a remove-able table which is not permanently connected to the
pedestal and a design with just a few fittings:-)

Regards,
Jens Anker

I have a Swan 411-40 Woatn which came with a standard Nautor folding table which fitted into a fitting on the steering pedestal and its legs fitted into two eyes on the side of the cockpit. Since the cockpit ofn a 411 is pretty smal it is all rather friendly and olny 4 people can sit down to eat. We used it crossing the Atlantic on a number of occasions when the rolling or lack of it would allow us to do so.

I feel sure that Nautor will have the plans and possibly even be able to supply you with one. I suggest you sedn an email to Ann-Mari.Lill@nautors-swan.com who is in charge of spares for the older Swans and i have always found her very helpful.

Anton,
I am also interested in seeing photos of your cockpit table, as I am considering to build such on our 38. Could you be kind enough to post some pics on this forum, or send them by e-mail?
Best regards,
Jyrki

Dear Jens,
We have a 431 too and some years ago we've designed a very simple table that is working really good. It's made up only by the surface (that's splitted in two part using two hinges) and a piece of wood properly shaped to fit below the compass (it hasn't lags!). Here I made some sketch: 1) from the top, 2) from the side, 3) the piece of wood that hook the table under the compass.
When you aren't using the table, you can quick fold it and put it under the pillows of the right bench of the saloon (so it has to be less thick than possible). Best regards
Francesco (431/012 Caid)

Clarification: the table haven't any permanent fitting, the piece of wood too has only to be inserted when you set up the table. The other side of the table lean against the boat herself (on the rise before the entrance)

Hi Francesco

Thanks very much for your suggestion and taking the effort making the drawings.
You have an simple elegant design with no fittings on the boat and
I had a similar one, not as elegant as yours although:-)

What we would like is an original design, even though it means permeant fittings
on the pedestal and the cockpit wall.

I just had a quotation from Nautor and they offered the table with fitting at a price of 1584?, quite impressive for at small dinner/coffee table.

I still hope somebody have a picture or drawings of the original design. I am waiting for further information from our distinguished member John Bailey.

Regards and wishes for a good season,
Jens Anker

Dear Jens,
if you have time (I am not going to the boat until mid May) I will send you some pictures on my original cockpit table, fitted on my Swan 38, with measurments, so you could get an estimation from a carpenter. It's very nice and really simple, you should be able to get it done for a cheaper sum than 1.500 Euros

Dear Members,

All good things come to the patient ones.

In the local marina I found a Swan 38, Blue Jay who actually have an original table
with fittings. I am making a copy of it and I am about to make a drawing of the table and fitting and make the measurements for the Swan 431.
I will post the information here on the forum in a couple of days.
The original table have a steel-fitting on the pedestal. I will try to avoid that
by making an arrangement like one Francesco suggests with a piece of wood inserted on the handle on the pedestal.
I will look nice on the boat and I hope it will serve the same purpose
as the fixed mounted fitting.

Thanks to all the helpful members who have taken the effort to solve my problem :-)

Regards,
Jens Anker
